Rtn. GOWRI OZA joined the Rotary in 1998, but her association with the organization dates back a long time, as her husband, Late Rtn SNEHAL OZA was an active member of the Rotary.

Over the years, since her incorporation into Rotary, she has held the post of chairman of various committees. She joined the board for the very first time in 2003 and ever since, has served as a board member for 4 times in different avenues of service.

On one such occasion, while she was the chairman for international services, she had the privilege of leading a team of Rotarians to Australia where she signed up a sister club relation with Rotary club of Cheltenham, Melbourne.

Another time, as the director of Youth services, apart from the RYLA, she was instrumental in introducing sports related events for youth.

Born in Madikeri to patriotic parents, her father served in the 2nd world war and later was the commissioner of Agricultural Income tax and was given 8 years extension after retirement for his prompt and honest services. Her mother, who recently passed away at the age of 94, was a staunch Gandhian and an idealist. She has fought for many social and environmental causes and has been recognized for the same on many a platform.

Being one of the 10 siblings, she has had a memorable childhood. Rtn Gowri is a science graduate from Bangalore University and during her college days has dabbled in various sports. Her passion and love for the sport of swimming though is unparalleled for.  Although she could never pursue it as much to her liking, she has nevertheless set the bar high for herself and has won many medals and recognitions at various district, state and national level swimming competitions. On the personal front, one of her notable achievements was when as a senior under officer in the NCC, she had the opportunity to represent her state in the Republic Day parade in the year 1970. She has also done some basic mountaineering courses.

Social causes have always been a part of her life. She has been a member of the Ladies Circle India, and the Ladies wing of the Round Table India. During her time as a circler, she has represented our country as the ambassador of Ladies circle India to Great Britain and Ireland on a Ladies Circle International Travel Grant.

Those of you who know her well, should by now know her intense love for Cooking. It’s one of her favourite hobbies and she loves to experiment often with new recipes and dishes. Her innovative dishes have even won her a few accolades and prizes at various competitions.

Rtn Gowri is blessed with 2 children, Daughter Ashwini Oza, is a renowned jewellery designer and she along with her husband Chetan.G.Raja are the founding partners of the brand ARNAV. She is a recipient of several awards for her jewellery designing. They have two children. Her son Akarsh Oza  is an Architect , college topper and a keen cricketer who runs his own successful architectural firm along with wife Lavanya and are parents to two kids.

This year, Rtn. Gowri Oza is excited in taking over as the Secretary of the club. She looks forward to this new challenge and experience and hopes to live up to the expectations and Rotary standards. She seeks your support and blessings for the same.
